Applesauce Spice Bars
Updated November 10, 2017
I love fall, I really do, but for some reason I am having a hard time admitting it is here. I had a great summer and I am sad to see it go.
On Friday we went up to Park City for a church party and we noticed the leaves are already changing colors and it was quite chilly up there! I guess it is time to embrace fall and enjoy it.
For the party I made Dorieโs Applesauce Spice BarsโฆI figured this dessert would get everyone in the mood for fall! I was right, the bars were delicious and just tasted like โfall.โ Apples, cinnamon, a brown sugar/vanilla glazeโฆYUM! The bars werenโt heavy, they were light, moist, and the glaze gave them a nice shine.
These are the perfect treat to take to a party. So great, I am submitting these to Susanโs Blogiversary Bash at Sticky, Gooey, Creamy, Chewy. Happy Blogiversary!! Thanks for hosting such a fun event.
Adapted from Dorie Greenspan:Baking From My Home to Yours

1 tsp. baking powder
ยผ tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
ยผ tsp. allspice

1 cup packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
ยฝ cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 baking apple, peeled, cored and finely diced
ยฝ cup raisins
2 ยฝ Tb. heavy cream
โ cup packed light brown sugar

Congratulations on the Yummy Blog award fellow winner, do I say femmow (for female) if it is a girl? I love the crisp weather of fall, but summer is my favorite for food, probably because my grandparents farmed, and I prefer less clothes. But the birds getting ready for winter and the coming storms, I do love that also.

I guess the chopped apple is at the same time as the raisins? The directions donโt say anything about it. Please clarify.
You add the raisins last. See the recipe.
How much is 1 stick? 1/2 cup or 1 cup, I canโt remember.
1/2 cup!
Hi there!
Just curious- how long do these keep? Iโd love to make them for a houseguest, but would have to do it a couple days before. Think I could at least make the bars and freeze them a couple days, then glaze the day of?
Thanks!
