Kitchen Remodel-Part Three

I havenโt done a kitchen remodel update in quite some time. Honestly, I am a little embarrassed by the way our home looks. If you didnโt know we were remodeling, you would probably guess that we were caught in the middle of a tornado. I have tried to clean, but it really doesnโt help. Our house is just one big mess.
We actually moved out of our house a week ago. Josh stepped on a nail and was in pain for a couple of days. That was the last straw for me, I was sick of living in a construction zone. Luckily, our dear friends took us in and have been beyond generous in letting us use their home and kitchen. Josh still goes to the house every day to work. He has been putting in long hours.
Josh ripped up the old wood floor in the kitchen and dining room. We also had someone come in and sheet rock, mud, and texture the kitchen and dining room. Josh painted the entire upstairs. We went with a light grey in the living room. The kitchen is mostly white, with a charcoal accent wall. I love it! For the record, I did help paint:)
Josh is almost done with the hard wood floors. He laid the new flooring this week in the kitchen and dining room. Today he is sanding the entire upstairs and will stain and refinish the floors. It is finally starting to look like a house again:) The cabinets go in on Wednesday! I canโt wait!

So there you have it! We are still hanging in there. Thanks to everyone who has offered their help with the house, advice, brought us meals, support, etc. We canโt wait to finish our kitchen so we can repay the many favors. I owe a lot of people cookies:)

Oh, I so feel both your pain and your excitement. We did a major kitchen remodel a few years ago. Itโs a terrible mess and inconvenience but SO worth it.

We went through this incredibly painful process a couple of years ago. It took about 3 months of total chaos and no kitchen, but it was sooo well worth it! I promise you will forget the pain (literally) when you are cooking up a storm in your new kitchen!

Yep, I remember remodeling all too well. We did a complete remodel/renovation of our home and it took 3 LONG years. We lived in the house the entire time. Iโm still cleaning up sawdust.
OMG- What a lot of work. You definitely should NOT be embarrassed. Itโs amazing what you are doing. Iโm seriously impressed with you ingenuity and hard work. And, I love, love the charcoal wall. Itโs stunning. Canโt wait to see more!

I donโt blame you for moving out. Itโs going to be so nice when itโs finished! Our neighbors are doing a kitchen remodle too. Itโs been fun to see the step by step process! They knocked out a wall and added a large dining room too..should be really nice!

Hi, you have to keep your nice expectations! Regarding the mess, the problem is that it is dangerous. You never know if you are stepping on wires, cables, nails. In my profession, Iยดve seen many accidents. First rule in the field of construction is to keep the place clean and in order.

Hey Maria, Itโs looking great! Iโm going to be joining you in a few weeks with a chaotic house mess. Weโre redoing the carpet in our whole upstairs and pretty much have to move everything out of the upstairs and then back in. Plus rip up the carpet and pull it all out. But we only get a hotel room. ๐ Been there, done that on the kitchen remodel and canโt ever go back to life without my kitchen. Thatโs so nice that your neighbors have been so great to let you stay. And hope the remodel continues to go well. Come visit and cook with me anytime.
Oh Maria. How exhausting! I have never had to live through a remodel and Iโm not sure I would make it! It is so hard having your house be a construction zone. You know that when this is all done it will be awesome but that doesnโt make the current discomfort any easier. Hang in there!
Love the charcoal! I am a big fan of greys. My husband and I had to set up camp elsewhere when we were having work done on our Idaho house. Too strong of fumes plus pregnant lady did not fair well! Canโt wait to see the final product!
I need to do this, but maybe I will just wait a bitโฆ.
