Peanutty Buckeye Bars

I love buckeyes. And I am not talking about the Ohio State Buckeyes, I donโt like to talk about them. I am an Illini fan.ย I am talking about the chocolate peanut butter buckeyes that are insanely delicious. The ones you pop in your mouth and keep popping until they are gone and you have a stomachache. I love those buckeyes.
Well, I was recently looking at recipes on Better Homes and Gardens and I came across a recipe for Peanutty Buckeye Bars. I immediately bookmarked the recipe. Buckeyes, but in bar form? Count me in!
I was waiting for the perfect reason/excuse to make these bars. Well, it was our friendโs birthday and he is a huge peanut butter and chocolate fan, just like me. So I pulled up the Peanutty Buckeye Bars recipe and got baking. It was time to celebrate. Everyone deserves a special birthday treat.
The bars are simple to make and will blow your mind. They go a little something like this-a layer of rich chocolaty brownie with crunchy peanuts, a layer of creamy peanut butter and sweetened condensed milk, and another layer of peanutty brownie.

Yum! Iโve never heard of a Buckeye (Iโm a British-Australian, donโt blame me!) but if the original is anything like these bars, Iโm completely on to it!! Definitely making this recipe. love your blog also. Gorgeous colours, recipes and writing.
As an Ohio State Buckeye, I have to say your first few sentences made me laugh. I never thought of turning our beloved chocolate coated, peanut butter candies into bar form. They look delicious.

Now Iโm nervous. I made these, waiting for them to cool, but Iโm confused. My brownie mix calls for 1/2 cup oil and 1/4 cup of water. I left out the water and reduced the oil to the 1/3 cup you call for. Hope thatโs right! They seemed dry. I was confident until I read the response when you told someone they could substitute their favorite brownie recipe. Crossing my fingers!
