Miss You Most of All by Elizabeth Bass

I really enjoyed this book. It takes place on The Sassy Spinster farm in Texas. Itโ€™s a celebration of sisters, family, love, and life.

The Recipe Club: A Novel About Food and Friendship by Andrea Israel and Nancy Garfinkel

A book about friendship that also includes recipes. It is an easy, enjoyable read.

Plate to Pixel by Helene Dujardin

I am especially excited about this book because my dear friend Helene wrote it. It is fabulous! If you are interested in food photography or photography in general, this is a must read. It is full of helpful hints and tips. Helene covers everything and makes food photography easy to understand. The photos in the book are also gorgeous. I will be reading this book over and over again!

Now itโ€™s your turn! What have you been reading?

  1. I just bought plate to pixel a few days ago and I canโ€™t wait to get it! Sounds like just what I need ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Room by Emma Donaghue ( not sure how to spell last name) is one of the best books I read this year. Also excellent is HELP.

  3. All of these sound great! Iโ€™m always looking for a good new book to read!

  4. I think my husband has ordered Plate to Pixel as a gift for meโ€ฆ shhh. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope so! I am reading Salt: A World History right now. Also, I am a member of the Kitchen Reader book club. It sounds like your kind of thing, maybe?

  5. Iโ€™ve read quite a few great books recently. I just finished Saving CeeCee Honeycutt โ€“ it was delightful! The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter & Sweet was wonderful. Other recent favorites: Molokai, Girl in Translation, The Kitchen House.

  6. I just finished Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, true story and a great read. Looking for something new, I love these kinds of posts!

  7. Over the past month I whipped through a few really good reads.

    The Help by Kathryn Stockett
    The Postmistress by Sarah Blake
Secret Daughter by Shilpi S Gowda

am just about finished Left Neglected by Lisa Genova (who also wrote Still Alice โ€“ an amazingly heart wrenching story โ€“ an overall excellent read).

Next up โ€“ The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein

  8. The Silent Governess, The Apothecaryโ€™s Daughter, and Lady at Milkweed Manor, by Julie Klassenโ€ฆ..all great reads! Written in a style much like Jane Austenโ€ฆ.LOVE them!

  9. Iโ€™ve been on a young adult kick lately and just read If I Stay and Where She Went (a two books series). Now Iโ€™m starting Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin.

  10. Is Pixel to Pixel out already, for some reason I was thinking its release date was further off. I might have to think about purchasing it, though to be honest, I donโ€™t reference my existing photography and food photography books nearly as much as I should. Iโ€™m currently reading Ravenous, which I am really enjoying. I have to admit I recently finished Recipe Club and didnโ€™t care for it very much. It was a selection in a food-related book club I was in and it just didnโ€™t do it for me, the other selections you mention sound fantastic though.

  11. Plate to Pixel is new to me, and Iโ€™m new to food photography. โ€œEasy to understandโ€ seems just my speed. ๐Ÿ™‚

Since Iโ€™ve recently moved to NYC, Iโ€™m currently reading The World in a City: Traveling the Globe Through the Neighborhoods of the New New York by J. Berger. Very Interesting.

  12. I love these posts. My most recent book was Shanghai Girls and I loved it, canโ€™t wait for the sequel!

  13. I read The Recipe Club. I thought it was a fun read, plus I loved all the recipes that were through out the book.

  14. Plate to Pixel by Helene Dujardin = I REALLY!!! want to read it!! I want to do a workshop with her too ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Iโ€™ve been reading RATIO, about the basic ratios of cooking & baking. Pretty neat for an un-schooled cook!

  16. One of my friends just gave me The Recipe Club for my birthday โ€“ so excited to read it. I just finished Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt and The House at Riverton, which I loved! I really want Plate to Pixel too ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. โ€œMade from Scratch: Discovering the Pleasures of a Handmade Lifeโ€ by Jenna Woginrich (highly recommended, she is so witty and down-to-earth).
