Itโ€™s been awhile since Iโ€™ve done a book post. Sorry for the delay! Here are a few of my recent favorites.

I was at the library and randomly picked up Frienship Bread. I love the bread so I decided to try the book. The story takes place in a small town in Illinois and tells how a simple recipe brings together family, friends, and a community. I highly recommend this one!

Sarahโ€™s Key has been on my โ€œto readโ€ list for a long time. I donโ€™t know why it took me so long to get to it because I absolutely loved every page. If you havenโ€™t read this book, donโ€™t waste anymore time. This is a book you will never forget. They just came out with a movie too. I plan on seeing it, but I always like to read the book first. The books are almost always better than the movie:)

I am loving Kate Jacobโ€™s books. First, I read Comfort Food. Yes, I like to read books about food:)ย  I really enjoyed it so I went to the library and picked up The Friday Night Knitting Club.

I finished the book in a day, so I moved on to the second book in the series, Knit Two. Iโ€™veย been making a lot of trips to the library:)

I am already done with that book so now I am reading the final book in the series, Knit the Season.

Hopefully, it will be as good as the other two books. I am sure it will be because I love the characters. ย And you donโ€™t need to know how to knit to enjoy these books. I canโ€™t sew on a button and I have really enjoyed the series:)

What have you been reading lately? Please share in the comments. I am always looking for new books to read!

  7. iโ€™m picking up on my reading againโ€ฆand always on the lookout for ideas! iโ€™m bookmarking this page!

  8. I loved this post, I always enjoy reading book reviews. Sarahโ€™s Key looks like an amazing book, Iโ€™ll have to read that. A couple weeks ago I read One Day, I absolutely loved it and I couldnโ€™t put it down. It was such a beautiful and heartbreaking story and I have yet to see the movie. Right now Iโ€™m reading George R. R. Martinโ€™s A Song of Ice and Fire series. This one is going to take me a whileโ€ฆ

  9. My boyfriend and I saw Sarahโ€™s Key at the movies a few weeks ago, and we both loved it! About 80 percent of the movie is in French, which was very interestingโ€“and very authentic, I thought. It definitely made me want to read the book! I usually read the book versions of things before I see the movie versions, so Iโ€™ll be interested to see how the story played out on the page. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. I just finished reading Sarahโ€™s Key yesterday. I loved it! I canโ€™t wait to see the movie.

I have also read The Friday Night Knitting Club. I didnโ€™t realize there was a 2nd book. I will have to check it out.

  11. I just started The Violets of March. Only on Chapter 3 but itโ€™s great so far. I finished the Hunger Games series and Room in the span of 1 week. completely devoured those books.

  12. Just finished reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Reuben. Started reading The Greater Journey by David McCullough. Love his books. Am also reading the three-volume series on The Civil War by Shelby Foote. I tend to read more than one book at a time.

  13. I loved The Friendship Bread book. I all ready made 3 of the recipes in the back! thanks for the other book ideas..Im going to hit the library!

  14. Loved the Kate Jacobs books and Sarahโ€™s Key was one of the more haunting stories that I have read in the last few years โ€” one of the previous comments highlighted Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet and I wholeheartedly agree. I would also throw Alice Genovaโ€™s books out there โ€“ โ€œStill Aliceโ€ will stay with you long after the book is put down and โ€œLeft Neglectedโ€ in also quite compelling.

  15. My sister in law just recommended Sarahโ€™s Key to me, so now Iโ€™ll have to put it on my Kindle. Glad to hear about the other two Knitting books. Read the first one and Comfort Food and enjoyed them, but I have a hard time with books that are series, usually not liking the later ones. Iโ€™ll have to get them. Thanks for the recommendations. You probably wonโ€™t have much time to read soon.

  16. I just finished the Hunger Game Series and also The Other Boleyn Girl. I have My name on the list at the library for The Help and am just realizing that I want to check out Sarahโ€™s Key.

The Kate Jacobs books sound interesting, Iโ€™ll have to check for those. Thanks for the recommendations.

  17. Iโ€™ve read the first knitting book but need to read the second two!

Sarahโ€™s Key is just wonderful! If youโ€™re looking for another great WWII read, I recommend The Skeletons at the Feast.

I recently read The Murdererโ€™s Daughters and thought it was pretty goodโ€ฆalso read The Forgotten Garden for bookclub and it seems like itโ€™d be up your alley!

Keep up the book posts ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. The Movie Sarahโ€™s Key was just as good as the book. I cried the entire movie and loved every single moment of it. (Well, I didnโ€™t love the horrible events โ€“ but the story was told so well.)

  19. Thanks for the recommendations! I love hearing whatโ€™s good to read.

I recently finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and loved it! One of my friends is reading it now and weโ€™re starting a book club in a couple of weeks.

  20. Yes, my girls and I loved Sarahโ€™s Key. Havenโ€™t seen the movie yet because I was afraid they would ruin the story as they usually do when books go to movies. Glad to hear it was good. Read Shanghai Girls by Lisa See, sheโ€™s a wonderful author. I just finished the sequel, Dreams of Joy. Iโ€™m sorry to lose the characters now that I finished the books. Mrs. Kimble by Jennifer Haigh is also good. My friends and I had a virtual book club this summer, just sharing good titles with each other. It was a fun experience. I use this resource: http://bookpage.com for lots of good book reviews, from children to adults. They have several newsletters that you can register for on their site.

  21. I LOVE the Friday Night Knitting Club books! I enjoy reading about the bonds between the family and friends. A favorite recent read was Juliaโ€™s Chocolates by Cathy Lamb. Itโ€™s all over the place in a good way (family, abusive relationships, following your dreams, love story) and I loved it to pieces!

  22. Have you read any of Sarah Addison Allenโ€™s books? I adore her! And sheโ€™s got the food theme going in some of them:
    The Sugar Queen
The Girl Who Chased the Moon
    Garden Spells
    The Peach Keeper

  23. I am currently reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. Lovely story so far about 2 girls/women in China. I recently read Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin. Itโ€™s about the girl who inspired Alice in Wonderland. I wasnโ€™t sure if I was going to like it at first, but by the end I really enjoyed it. Very touching and real.

  24. Oh my gosh, I am LOVING the Friday Night Knitting Club! Iโ€™ve never paid much attention to book suggestions from people, mostly because I used to just buy the book, so I didnโ€™t want to waste my money if it wasnโ€™t any good. But after realized that the last three books my sister has suggested have been terrible (and after becoming better acquainted with the local library!) I saw your post and decided to give it a go. Thanks for sharing, Iโ€™m LOVING having something new and wonderful to enjoy!

  25. Maria. All these sound so good! Iโ€™ve been wanting to read the Friday Night Knitting Club and will have to start it soon. The last book I finished was Between a Rock and a Hard Place. It was incredible! I am currently reading The Picture of Dorian Gray and really enjoying it too!

    Yay for reading!

  26. I have been wanting to read the knitting club but shyed away because it looked like it was about sewing (and I like you have no knowledge of how a needle and thread work). I will have to read them now. Thanks for the recommendations!
